BASIC INFORMATION:

This show is the result of releasing a constructed virus into Oakland.

---The action of this virus is simple:::: It infects only Oakland artists and causes them to infect other Oakland artists.

---The virus is intially within 6 people AND each of these people will infect 6 more people, this process will happen 4 times resulting in 1554 artists being infected.

---EACH ARTIST IS RESPONSIBLE IN MAKING SURE THAT THEIR 6 CHOSEN ARTISTS CHOOSE ANOTHER 6 ARTISTS EACH. (except for the 4th and final tier)

STEP 1 - CHOOSE 6 ARTISTS
STEP 2 - HAVE THEM SELECT ONE PIECE FOR THE SHOW
STEP 3 - HAVE THEM SELECT 6 MORE ARTISTS EACH
STEP 4 - HAVE THEM EMAIL ME THEIR INFO WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT LINE
(required info: name, address, title of art, sale price, names and contact for each of their chosen artists)
STEP 5 - HAVE THEM BRING THEIR WORK TO LOBOT

---Each artist infected will bring one piece of artwork of their choice, OF ANY MEDIUM,THAT CAN FIT WITHIN A 22"x22" SPACE into LoBot where it will be installed.

---SHOW DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

july 15th - opening for 1554 artists -2 to 9pm - drop off by the 12th

THIS SHOW RUNS THROUGH JULY 28TH - GALLERY HOURS ARE 3 TO 7 : TUES THRU. SAT.

TAKEDOWN IS THE 29TH THROUGH THE 1ST

ARTISTS CAN BRING BY WORK ANYDAY (except sunday the 9th during world cup) BETWEEN 10am AND 8PM!!!!

The PURPOSE of this virus is more complex than it seems, this is not only a show of quantity, it is about making connections. As Oakland rapidly develops - new groups form and old groups dissapate. And while Oakland is composed of many communities it is also one community. This show is an attempt to remove control from individuals and give it to the community, the result will be the bringing together of a group no one person could form, but is entirely Oakland. The movement of the virus will be tracked, and presented visually, so at the end we will be able to discern how this group of artists has formed, and how we are all connected.
